I ran another installment of my popular Primary Drawing & Painting workshop at the headquarters of Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation in Wakefield last week.
Over the course of the day I look at how drawing progresses from early years to year 6 and how you, the teacher can advise and assist pupils to improve. Of course it’s a practical workshop with fun activities so you can try out the exercises yourself.
In addition to traditional drawing there are exercises in mark making and contemporary drawing.
The afternoon session looks at some simple tips to improve painting skills so that pupils can avoid some of the common pitfalls. We look at how pupils can paint more confidently with much more expressive use of colour and link these to famous artists. Additional exercises concentrate on the importance of dynamic composition.
