If there’s one thing sure to cause you to feel moody and downright depressed it’s that ‘back to school’ feeling after the summer holidays. To put it mildly it’s bloody terrible!
It’s easy to get caught up in this and let it take over you. The staffroom only compounds things and makes it worse. Within minutes of sitting down the moaning begins. Some teachers even start quoting the number of days to the next holidays.
It can be a very gloomy time and it gets you off on a bad foot. If you find yourself stuck in this situation then you are going to have to reverse it, because if you don’t then it can easily become the norm. Before long you find yourself moaning and groaning along with the rest of them.
So, shake off the misery, give yourself a kick up the bum and start looking at the positives. Begin by thinking about all the things you love about your job. Being a teacher is awesome, it pays well you get plenty of time off and most of the time you are your own boss. Don’t you just get a buzz off making a difference to those young people’s lives? Isn’t it great to see your friends again? Wasn’t that six week break just a little bit too long? Whatever your personal motivations are for feeling better, turn those horrible negatives into positives. Play some happy music, smile, laugh, do a little dance, or sing a song ! You have one of the best jobs in the world.
